Carla Tovias actress and dancer

I am a stage director, creator, actress and dancer trained in the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq. My scenic practice moves between movement, contemporary dramaturgy and visual composition, developing languages in which body, text, space and play engage in dialogue.

Throughout my career, I have worked as a director, assistant director, actress, dancer and movement director in more than twenty productions presented at venues such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Sala Beckett, Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Teatre Lliure and Teatro Español. I have collaborated with creators such as Joan Arqué, Miguel del Arco, Jordi Casanovas, Sol Picó, Iván Morales and Guillem Albà, developing a scenic perspective that moves between play, movement and contemporary theatricality.

My research begins from the body as a dramaturgical tool and from scenic play as a space of tension between fragility, humour and critical thought. I am particularly interested in the relationship between presence, composition and theatricality, as well as in the construction of scenic languages that engage with the poetic and political dimensions of performance.

As a director and creator, I have developed projects such as Tres Porques (Sala Beckett, 2025), Desheretaràs la terra (a micro-opera premiered at the Gran Teatre del Liceu), Finita la Commedia and Vida Rara — works situated between physical theatre, collective creation and contemporary performance research.

At the same time, I develop a pedagogical and research line connected to the body, movement and contemporary creation. Through laboratories and artistic accompaniment processes, I explore presence, play, physical language, and the relationship between body, intuition and dramaturgy. I understand transmission as a natural extension of my stage practice.
